Qualities of Diamonds for the bride

The term fire describes a diamond. In fact, what the term refers to has more to it. It was believed by the ancient Greeks that the fire symbolizes the never extinguishing flame called love. The fire that the diamond has is a dispersion of light that looks like colors produced by a spectrum. The colors look like a glowing rainbow.

This fire of the diamond can be witnessed in places such as restaurants, pubs and other similar places where dim lights are being lit. Stones have to be cut rightly and different dimensions have to be created for the fire to be good on a large scale. The facets have to be flat and the dimensions and angles have to be diagonal. Older diamonds conform to these norms and so they produce more fire.

Brilliance

A diamond is rated by its brilliance also. Brilliance refers to both the brightness and the contrast of the diamond. The terms brilliance means more than that. The reflection of light back to the observer or onlooker and the type of reflection determines the brilliance of a diamond.

A lot of jewelers consider the brilliance as the most important quality and Unique Selling Proposition of the diamond. Supposing that someone who loves talking about a diamond, what he first exclaims over the diamond is its brilliance.

Scintillation

There is also a quality in diamonds called the scintillation. This term refers to the way light is dispersed from the diamond when the diamond is in movement.

Brilliance refers to the dispersed light’s quality when the diamond is placed stationary. Scintillation is achieved when the diamond is in movement. Brilliance and Scintillation are somewhat similar but fire is the different one of all the three.

What is best for the Bride?

Scintillation, Fire and Brilliance are determined by how the diamond is cut. This determines the quantity and the quality of the fire, scintillation or brilliance the diamond produces and most of you do compensate or give up the search for one or two of the qualities of the diamond. And some of you may want a certain quality though there is absence of another.

If you want all of them, then you have to make the right search for a perfect diamond and breakeven with all the three qualities. Remember, diamonds are cut in a way to provide more scintillation and brilliance than fire. But it is you who should make sure what type of diamond you want to buy for your wedding.
