Differences between Diamond Jewelry and Cubic Zirconia
Most of the Jewelry lovers would have known about Cubic Zirconia jewelry. Cubic Zirconia is a substitute to Diamond Jewelry. It is vastly agreed by Gemologists that Cubic Zirconia is the gemstone that is close to be the proud substitute of Diamond. You cannot tell the differences between a Cubi Zirconia and a Diamond. Not only average people like us, even those of the trained gemologists can hardly tell the difference between the two with naked eyes.
It further looks the same to an untrained eye. An untrained eye can hardly find the differences between a diamond and a cubic zirconia or cz. You have to take a closer scrutiny and analyze with careful inspection which will help you find the differences. The cz or cubic zirconia gems have somewhat lesser brilliance than a diamond but fire on them is more. Russians were the ones who found Cubic Zirconia gems surprisingly for their space and astronomy related operations.
You can also look at the stone’s hardness where Cubic Zirconias range somewhere between 8.5 and 9.0 on the Mohs’ hardness scale. In this scale, diamond is 10 as diamond is the hardest material known to the human beings. For a comparison, Glass is rated at 5 to 6 on the scale which is not as hard as diamonds and cubic zirconias. CZ has the ability to scratch glass much like how diamonds do. This makes CZ more unbreakable than glass and less than diamonds.
Another major difference between both diamond and CZ is their weight. CZs weigh more than diamonds which is 1.75 times higher than diamonds of the same size. If a piece of diamond’s weight is one carat, then a piece of CZ would weigh about 1.75 carats. CZ is more pure and flawless but, on the contrary, diamonds have some defects, impurities etc. owing to their being extremely natural.
CZ is not much costlier than the diamonds and the difference between a diamond and CZ is never found by a naked eye. So, you may decide which one is the cheap and best option!
